New Farmyard adjacent to Cotswolds AONB

Planning consent has been granted for a new agricultural yard on a Greenfield site adjacent to the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The scheme incorporates two cattle buildings, a straw/machinery building and a grain store.

Over a ten-year period, the landowners had submitted three formal enquiries and one pre-application seeking permission for a new agricultural yard. They met with strong opposition from the local authority on each occasion. Bourne Rural then became involved and through careful consideration of the core agricultural issues, site constraints and understanding of the implications of the site boundary abutting the Cotswold AONB, a comprehensive pre-application was submitted. Broadly positive comments were received and a full planning application was then submitted.

Initial works required exploration of all potential sites for the new yard across the land holding whilst working alongside an experienced landscape architect.

Bourne Rural were able to support this thriving rural business to relocate to a new yard through robustly demonstrating that the current premises were no longer suitable or sustainable and that the new yard would be compliant with local and national policy and ensure the long term viability and sustainability of the farming business.
