Construction Underway at Epsom Downs Racecourse

Construction is well underway for the redevelopment of the racehorse training yard at Downs House, Epsom Downs Racecourse. Planning permission was granted in 2019 and allowed for the the erection of a U-shaped stable building with 58 loose boxes, a storage barn, equine pool, wash boxes, all-weather turn out, horse walker, canter track and accommodation for trainers and workers.

This will be an incredible development when completed. It was a complex application for the redevelopment of an existing yard within the Green Belt. Complex arguments of Very Special Circumstances were pivotal in getting this application across the line, in conjunction with a well-designed scheme produced by Richard McGonigal of RPS Design Group Limited.
